Directed by the well known South African born film director Jonathan Liebesman whose films mainly center on the horror film genre. It comes from the house of Columbia Pictures (owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment) and it stars Michelle Rodriguez(as a Technical Sergeant), Aaron Eckhart(as a Marine Staff Sergeant), Michael Peña(father of an Marine), Bridget Moynahan (a veterinarian), Taylor Handley (Simmons) , Lucas Till (Corporal Grayston) and Joey King(Kirsten).
Aaron Eckhart plays the role of a local Marine sergeant who has a bigger task of handling an unknown force that attacks the Los Angeles city. To his aid is an unseasoned platoon of young soldiers who are the last hope for the people of Los Angles. They are about to face an
Enemy which no army has encountered till date. The movie is set to happen at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton which is at the outskirts of the city Los Angeles, CA. Sergeant Nantz
and his men fight against these aliens which at first take over the water sources and also clean up anything and everything that gets in their path. Brian Tyler who was the music director for many successful films like Eagle Eye, Constantine, Rambo & The Expendables is the music director
for this movie. The film makers Colin Straus & Greg are in deep trouble as there is a strong rumor that Sony Pictures Entertainment is about to undertake a legal action against the duo. They both were
earlier hired by Sony to work on the Visual effects and now they are suspected by Sony to have utilized their knowledge gained here to create a very similar film named Skyline which too is based on the Alien invasion concept. In real life the very same name “Battle of Los Angeles” is known as Great Los Angeles Air Raid” which happened from February 24 to 1942 February 25 over Los Angeles CA. Incidentally this event happened after America shortly entered into World War II (after the Pearl Harbor bombings).
