In 180 A.D., a discarded Roman general rises from the sands of slavery to overthrow the corrupt Emperor who betrayed him and the people of Rome. (R, Action, 154 Mins.)
Ridley Scott’s vision is great. In the arena of epic adventures, novel technique and movies that actually tell a story, ‘Gladiator’ triumphs – a spectacle that’s graphic and compelling with grandiose sets and performances. Crowe and Nielsen emanate inner strength. One does notice the special effects on a big screen. Still, it’s gripping – a must see crowd pleaser if you can stomach the merciless bloodshed.
