Piranha, a modern remake of the 1978 film, is one of the first post-production-conversion-to-3D to enjoy relatively positive feedback by critics. Based in Lake Victoria in the United States, an earthquake has opened up a rift to an ‘underwater ocean’ in which thousands of predatory prehistoric Piranhas have been breeding unseen for two million years. However implausible it may be, it sets the premise for without a doubt the most ridiculous film of the year. The film follows Jake (Steven McQueen) as he enjoys the entertainment by the lake – a film set for “Wild Wild Girls’ in which there are more shots of breasts than fish themselves.
Filled with an immeasurable amount of gore which will no doubt shock and humor viewers, this is definately not a film for a younger audience. If you understand the film does not take itself seriously, nor (hopefully) do the actors then you will have a great time ‘taking the plunge’ and viewing it. Approach the movie with the mindset that you are about to watch an over-the-top Sci-Fi Porno Thriller, and you are sure to be thoroughly entertained.
